NEWS

The Charity Race Night was held on Saturday 4th Feb.2017. We held 8 races on the night each with 8 horses running. Club members and their guests bet on each race. A percentage of the takings for each race were paid back on winning bets. The remainder went toward boosting the Club Charity fund for 2016-17. We raised just under £450 on the event, boosting the charity fund for the 2016-17 to just over £1,900. Cheques for £850 have been presented to each the charities; the Guide Dogs and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Many thanks for you sponsorship.

The 2017 AGM will take place on Mon 27th Feb.in the clubhouse starting at 7pm and follwoing the tee time ball draw. The Nomination form for those want to put their names forward to join the incoming committee has been posted and will be removed at the appriopriate time prior to the AGM. The minutes of teh AGM last year have also been posted.

The Captain's Day Trophy was played for in challenging conditions. It was won by Glynnis Blackwell with 39pts and Phillip Dick was runner-up with 38 pts. Georgia Greening, seen below withe the Club Captain, is a fundraiser for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. She helped to sell lots of raffle tickets on the night, along with YAA badges and other memorabilia. Their efforts helped raise over £300 on the day.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent Charity providing a life saving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across Yorkshire. They fly seven days a week, 365 days a year, covering a vast landscape that not only includes major cities and motor ways, but also rural and isolated locations. To keep providing this life saving service the Charity needs to raise over £12,000 per day to keep both of Yorkshire's Air Ambulances maintained and in the air. Their two Air Ambulances operate from The Nostell Priory Estate near Wakefield and RAF Topcliffe near Thirsk, and together both Air Ambulances cover the whole of the region. The donations that they receive are the life blood of the Charity and without it, they would not be able to provide their outstanding service.
